Theresa Gray is a normal girl. She has a brother, an aunt and a house in New York. At least that is the case until her aunt dies and her brother invites her to come live with him in London but, upon arrival, she is kidnapped by Ms. Black and Ms. Dark. The sisters force her into using a power she didn't even know she possessed, a power that "The Magister" desperately wants for unknown reasons. Using her power and his clockwork army, "The Magister" plans to destroy all shadowhunters in search of power. Luckily, the gorgeous shadowhunter Will rescues her and with the help of his friend Jem, the Enclave, the institute directors and some others, try to figure out why she was kidnapped, what the clockwork creatures are for, who the magister is and why he wants to take over the world and destroy all shadowhunters. Of course along the way there are heartbreaks, murders, sickness and betrayal standing between Tessa and the truth.

"Clockwork Angel" is a thrilling story filled with action, suspense, drama and romance that you will never want to put down. It is the prequel to Cassandra Clare's "The Mortal Instruments" series and, in my opinion, is just as good as (or better than) the original story. I would recommend this book to any teenage girl who loves fictional stories about worlds hidden in ours. Anyone that enjoys mystery and/or romance would love it. I loved this book because it mixes all of my favorite book characteristics. The characters are funny, the plot is extremely interesting with lots of twists and, of course, I loved the whole shadowhunter world with all of the monsters we knew growing up. I wouldn't change anything about the story... It is a perfect balance of sad and happy, with frustrating moments that made me want to chuck it across the room. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to start the next one in the series.
