Looking back, however, it wasn't always this way. Let's take Marilyn Monroe for example, she was considered one of (or the) most beautiful women alive. She was the embodiment of beauty and the role model for many women who wished to be pretty as well. But, next to a modern day supermodel, Marilyn wouldn't be NEARLY skinny enough and would probably be fired or not accepted for the job in the first place. But Marilyn Monroe WAS beautiful and still is an idol for many people. However, even now a days many people don't think they can be as beautiful as Marilyn and I think that it is because she was very CONFIDENT about her body and the way she looked. I think a big part of BEING beautiful is FEELING beautiful and happy with yourself.
Another example of beauty I admire is Jennifer Lawrence. She would never give up eating for a role, she even refused to loose ten pounds to shoot The Hunger Games, saying that she didn't want to be another impossible role model for girls around the world. On many occasions she has argued that you shouldn't starve yourself to be skinny, she says that you should eat what you want but exercise. She is confident about how she looks and has a fantastically hilarious personality to complement it. Needless to say, I agree completely. Of course, it's better to eat healthy, not junk food all day long, so you are a healthy kind of beautiful. Like Marilyn and Jennifer, we should strive to achieve our own perception of beauty and feel comfortable with our bodies. Of course, we have to accept that even though society might have opinions on how you look, the person whose opinion really matters is your own. But never forget... Before you judge society, remember that WE ARE SOCIETY.
